Tree Availability
During the past several years, we have been working to satisfy an unusually high demand for avocado trees. The combination of higher density new plantings, conversion of older groves to higher-tech orchards, good profitability for many growers and fire replacements have made for a tight market.
We have just finished propagating two back-to-back seasons of the greatest volumes of clonal avocados that we have ever produced. And finally, demand and supply are coming back into balance.
Here is our availability as of July 20, 2021:
Ready now (2021, limited volumes)
Hass/DUSA® – Bacon/DUSA®
2022 (Spring)
Hass/DUSA® – GEM/VC207 Day – Bacon/DUSA® – Hass/LEOLA™ – Bacon/Toro Canyon
2023
Most scion/rootstock combinations
In 2023, we will be rolling out the first quantities of the newly available Israeli rootstocks MIRIAM (VC218), TAMI (VC801) and BEN-YA’ACOV1 (VC66). Volumes of the recently released South African selections LEOLA TM and ZERALA TM will also be increasing as our mother trees mature and we are able to propagate more rootstocks. The UC selections Uzi, Steddom and Zentmyer too will be coming online in greater quantities. It’s an exciting time in avocado rootstock development with more options than ever before!
Finally, if you need trees that are not listed above please give us a call. Orders tend to shift around at times and sold-out trees have a way of becoming available unexpectedly. You can request to be waitlisted so that we can alert you if the trees you’re seeking become available.
Hello Brokaw Nursery,
I have a 2015 Brokaw Nursery Carmen Hass avocado tree that now has a large branch which originates from the root stock below the graft line.
So, now I may have two varieties on this one plant. They both bear tasty fruit, but behave and harvest separately with their own characteristics.
I am curious what the rootstock for the 2015 Carmen Hass is, so I can identify the fruit it produces from the below the graft sucker.
Thanks,
Tom
